Kathmandu. The Rapid Response Team (RRT) formed by Ncell to deal with monsoon-related disasters has started its work.
The company said that a team formed to quickly operate services that may be affected by natural disasters such as floods during the rainy season and landslides has begun work.
As soon as the response team started working, the company said that although the service was affected due to the storm, heavy rain and its impact, the service could be restored in a short time.
According to the company, RRT teams have been mobilised across regions to deal with disruptions in telecom services caused by the monsoon disaster.
Despite heavy storms and rain, 116 mobile towers in more than 15 districts of Kosi, Madhesh and Gandaki provinces were affected on June 12. But according to the company, the response teams had made more than 70% of the towers operational again within four and a half hours.
Due to heavy winds and rain, roads were blocked and optical fibers were broken. In addition, a power pole of the Nepal Electricity Authority collapsed, affecting power supply.
Similarly, as a disaster preparedness, Ncell has also increased its field workforce by 10% compared to normal. Ncell promises that if roads in the affected areas are not blocked due to the disaster, Ncell will restore services within 4 to 6 hours.
According to Ncell, backup batteries and fuel reserves have been arranged in the tower to take into account power supply issues during disasters.
