Can do attitude
The UFC star set up shop at Jorge Capetillo’s gym in East Las Vegas, and when Canelo Alvarez stopped by, he found himself running into boxing royalty.
He said: “I respect Canelo, more outside the ring than inside it because he is a very nice, humble person.”
“He would greet everybody in the room. He would make a point to shake everybody’s hand.
“There were 200 fans outside and he would take pictures with all of them and show how he treated his staff, how he treated his coaches.
“I’ve met him a few times and he’s a really solid and nice guy, which I really like about him.
“Then he spent five minutes watching me box. He took the time out to watch me box because he was going to cut weight and start working on it.”
“Man, nobody wanted to talk at that time. I was a boxer and I had been boxing for 20 years after I cut weight.
“I was just worried about myself, focused on me, and he took the time to come over and give me five to seven minutes of his time, like, ‘Look, this works for boxing, this doesn’t work. If I were you, from what I just saw, I would do this, forget that, this is how I would do it. Maybe you want to try this, maybe you want to try that.’
“I just thought it was the coolest thing ever.”
