Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced that it has suspended the import of poultry products from Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, due to an outbreak of Newcastle disease.

The Veterinary Services Agency has notified importers that all poultry and related products, and shipments containing such products, will be rejected and returned retroactively to June 18.

All previously issued import and transit permits for Rio Grande do Sul are canceled with immediate effect. The notice states that cooked poultry products for commercial use may still be imported under a veterinary import permit.
