Former Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has expressed deep condolences over the loss of life in two road accidents in Kasungu and Zomba districts which killed a total of 30 people.
“Gertrude and I were deeply saddened to learn of the news today of the loss of 26 lives in the Kasungu fires and four lives lost in the Zomba fires,” Mutharika said in a statement.
He added: “We cannot imagine the pain the families of the deceased and the community are going through.”

Mutharika called on Malawian believers to pray with him for a safe journey.
“May God comfort the families of those who died in the two road accidents today and rest the souls of those who died in another road accident in Thyolo on Sunday,” he said.
