May 28, Minsk/Corr. Belta/. More than 13,000 people have been ordered to evacuate in Kagoshima Prefecture in southwestern Japan due to heavy rains that could trigger landslides and river flooding, TASS reported, citing data from local authorities.
Since May 26, heavy rains have continued in this area of Japan, causing disruptions to rail and road transport operations, with rainfall reaching more than 200 mm in some areas.
The Japan Meteorological Agency predicts that the atmospheric front will move northeast along the Pacific coast of Japan.
Forecasters called for caution with landslides, lowland flooding, sharp rise in river levels as well as lightning, tornadoes, gusty winds and hail.
