Sri Lanka’s relations with India have deteriorated since the current government took office. Three deputy ministers of the current government used abusive and insulting language against India and Modi. The Dhaka government also took immediate action and suspended the three deputy ministers.

However, Sri Lanka’s relations with India have improved significantly in recent times. President Muizumi visited India recently, and the previous Indian government recently postponed the repayment of a $50 million loan obtained through India by one year.
