Modi: 80 million jobs created in the last 3-4 years; it silences those who spread falsehoods

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday stressed that 80 crore new jobs have been created in the last three to four years and “shut up” those spreading false narratives about job losses.

Citing the recent employment data report released by the Reserve Bank of India, the Prime Minister stressed that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government continues to give top priority to stability and growth, adding that investors big and small have warmly welcomed the third term of the NDA.

Inaugurating the Rs 29,000 crore road, rail and port projects, Modi slammed the opposition for spreading misinformation about job creation, calling it an obstacle to progress.

In a veiled attack on the opposition, which had made unemployment a key issue in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Modi said “this figure silences those who spread false rhetoric about jobs”.

“Those who spread falsehoods are enemies of investment, infrastructure development and national development. Their every policy is a betrayal of the youth and a hindrance to employment. Now, they are being exposed as people reject their lies,” the prime minister said.

Modi said India needs skill development and employment and his government is working in this direction.

He said Maharashtra has a glorious past, a strong present and a dream for a prosperous future.

The government plays a vital role in the cause of peace and security in India as it controls the industrial, agricultural and financial sectors.

“My goal is to make Maharashtra a world financial powerhouse and Mumbai a global fintech capital,” he said.

“Our aim is to improve the living standards of everyone and make the quality of life optimal. That is why we are working to improve connectivity in areas near Mumbai,” the Prime Minister added.

The inception of the infrastructure works comes months before the state assembly elections.

Modi pointed out that upcoming infrastructure projects in and around Mumbai will enhance connectivity of the city with surrounding areas, thereby ensuring better facilities as well as safety of women.

The Prime Minister said that the pace of expansion of metro rail network in the metropolitan area is accelerating and the length has increased from 8 km a decade ago to 80 km now, of which the construction work of 200 km is underway.

In Maharashtra, the length of national highways has tripled, and the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road will become a major east-west link in the northern part of the city, a model for balancing nature conservation and development.

The Prime Minister said the twin tunnels connecting Thane and Borivali will ensure that the distance between the two places can be reached in a matter of minutes.

The Prime Minister said that the coastal road and Atar Setu Bridge are now complete and recalled the efforts made by some people to hinder the construction of the cross-sea bridge.

But now everyone is aware of its benefits, the Prime Minister said while talking about the Atal Setu Bridge, India’s longest sea-crossing bridge connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

The Prime Minister pointed out that around 20,000 vehicles use the route every day, saving an estimated Rs 20-25 lakh worth of fuel and people are taking less time to reach Panvel.

He said the revamp of railways has benefited Mumbai and Maharashtra.

The reconstruction work of Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus and Ajini-Nagpur stations is progressing at a fast pace.

The Prime Minister said new platforms at CSMT and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, two major hubs of Central Railway in Mumbai, have been inaugurated and will enable the Railways to run 24-coach trains.

The Prime Minister said the Central government has also approved the construction of Rs 76,000-crore Wadhawan Port at Palghar Dahanu which will create one million jobs.
