SANTO DOMINGO – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) held the sixth Mr. Oscar de la Renta Dominican Immigrant Award, an award that recognizes the contributions of members of the overseas community, the ministry reported this Thursday.
According to a press statement, candidatures are due by September 30, 2024, and can be submitted at Dominican embassies and consulates, the offices of the Dominican Institute Abroad (Index), and the Professional Diplomacy Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Every year, Mirex presents the Oscar de la Renta Dominican Immigrant Award, the most important award of the country to Dominican citizens and first and second generation descendants who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of science, arts, humanities, labor, professional or academic, who have made a positive contribution to the communities where they live and who have maintained their ties to the country.
The award is inspired by the life trajectory of designer Oscar de la Renta, who has won international admiration, love and respect, becoming one of the most celebrated Dominicans in the world and a model for country brands.
The ministry noted in the note that interested persons can obtain the basis for applying for the award through the portal www.premioemigrantedominicano.gob.do.
