Ministry of Culture invites communities to celebrate Brazil Day

The Aruban Ministry of Culture invites the Aruban community to celebrate Brazil Day. Friday: Lantern Parade – Saturday: Tambu Festival – Sunday Gastronomy Fair and Cultural Folklore Parade.

After the success of cultural events in recent weeks such as “Songs in the Streets” and “Performance and Crowning of the 2024 Queen of Culture”, this weekend will be the climax of the celebration of Brazil Day. This will be our 14th year of celebrating Brazil Day with Creole music, local food, traditional costumes and Aruban culture in the beautiful atmosphere of the Brazilian streets.

The Ministry of Culture invites all Arubans to celebrate Brazil Day; embrace the good Aruban culture!

This weekend’s schedule is as follows:

Diabienne, August 30: Parada cu Lanterna.

Starting at 6:30pm, our culture will light up the streets of Brazil. The route will go from the Brazil Neighborhood Center to Bernadina Growell Street, past Noord Cura Cabai, past Rooi Koochi, past Mabon and back to the Brazil Neighborhood Center. Everyone is welcome to come and watch and support the beautiful lantern parade.

August 31: Tambu Carnival.

The event will take place at 8:00 pm at the Brazilian Neighborhood Center. The community is invited not to miss this event, where Tambu brings life and joy: Tambu is here to stay!

Diadomingo August 1: Feria di Cuminda (mainta/merdia)

On Brazil Day, before the Cultural and Folklore Parade, we invite everyone to enjoy delicious local cuisine in a Creole atmosphere in the Brazilian Neighborhood Center from 10:00 am.

To culminate the weekend, we also invite the entire community to “Embrace Your Culture”! Participate in and/or enjoy the Brazil Day celebrations and its Cultural Folklore Parade, a Sunday celebrating our Creole music, traditional clothing, local cuisine and Aruban culture in a joyful atmosphere near Brazil.

This will start at 3:00 pm. The route is from the Brazilian Neighborhood Centre to Bernadina Growell Street, Noord Cura Cabai, Rooi Koochi, Mabon and then back to the Brazilian Neighborhood Centre.

The Ministry of Culture thanks the Chico Hames Foundation, which is responsible for this great celebration, and all the volunteers and institutions that have collaborated and contributed to the success of the Brazil Day celebrations.

Aruba, let’s celebrate, enjoy and expand our culture. Come enjoy this weekend around Brazil with our cultural pillars and queens, typical groups, our dancers and participants in cultural folk costumes.
