Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Miami-Dade County District 9 Commissioner Kionne L. McGhee will break ground on the next phase of Quail Roost Station, a new affordable housing development for seniors, on Wednesday, August 14 at 11:00 a.m. The new development, which will provide direct access to public transportation, is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with the third phase to begin in 2025. Phase 2 will be part of a six-phase revitalization plan to improve the entire community.
The new phase will include 124 units designed specifically for seniors, including 36 studios, 72 one-bedroom units, and 16 two-bedroom units. Of these affordable units, 20 units will be priced at or below 30% of the Area Median Income (AMI), 44 units will be priced at or below 60% of AMI, and 60 units will be priced at or below 70% of AMI. The first phase will begin in 2020 with a total of 200 units.
Amenities include a community room, business center, fitness center and on-site laundry facilities. Adult literacy classes, employment assistance and financial management classes will also be available to residents.
Miami-Dade County provided Quail Roost Station with a $4.96 million surtax grant.
