What’s next for April Kim?
Today, K-pop fans can not only hear April Kim, but see her, too. In June, Kim served as BabyMonster’s first fan meeting in Singapore – During the show’s run, she appeared on stage for long periods of time, hosting the show and answering questions for the members of BabyMonster.
When asked if she thought her previous popularity helped in this new job, Kim responded, “I feel like (those events) helped me to be recognized as someone with a ‘personality.’ I feel like an interpreter shouldn’t show too much personality… That’s the main difference between a host and an interpreter. An interpreter is the shadow, while a host is in the spotlight.”
She explained that the viral clips proved to concert organizers that she had both the skills and personality to be a host, so they contacted her for this new role.
Kim Kardashian’s newfound fame is “scary” but “also feels like a dream.”
“I really appreciate that people recognize me, that artists show me appreciation, call me by my name and all that… I feel like I’m living in a K-drama. But I feel a sense of responsibility for this recognition, this love. It means (people) believe in me, and when I play (my role), it’s going to be fun… I don’t want to let them down. So I’m grateful, and I feel like I need to do better. So there’s a lot of pressure.”
Currently, April Kim has a new goal.
“My goal is to be able to speak Mandarin fluently so that I can translate in Mandarin.”
