Kenya’s National Democratic Alliance party leader Martha Karua on Thursday accused Azimio politicians led by Raila Odinga of exploiting the Generation Z movement to advance their political agenda and gain top government positions.

In an interview on The Obinna Show, Kalua stressed that the young protesters’ demand for government accountability was not driven by Azimio or ODM.

“I am against hijacking the Gen Z’s demands for accountability and turning it into something for the opposition. Let Gen Z speak their minds so we can examine their demands,” Karua said.

She stressed that their demands were constitutionally justified, especially in terms of accountability, and that Generation Z put Kenya’s interests first.

Karua also dismissed calls by President William Ruto and Raila Odinga for a national dialogue, arguing that such dialogue would not resolve issues raised by Kenyans, noting that similar dialogues had failed in the past.

“Do what Gen Z says, and if you want us to talk after you quit, that’s fine. If people lack confidence in you, then you should quit.” she asserted.

Additionally, Karua accused Ruto of failing to address the kidnapping and deaths of Kenyans during recent protests.

“Look at the number of young people who have died, 66 and counting, and so many missing, and the bodies in the morgues are all fake identities,” she observed.

Kalua’s comments underscore her call for real action and accountability, rather than political tactics, in response to the demands of the Gen Z movement.
