INSEE recommends using the industrial producer price index and the industrial production index to analyse changes in activity and prices in the sector, respectively, rather than using the turnover index, whose changes result from changes in prices and activity.
In addition, the industrial producer price index and industrial production index are released earlier than the turnover index: the producer price index and production index are released 30 days and 35 days after the end of the month, respectively, while the turnover index is released 60 days after the end of the month.
However, the Industrial Turnover Index is still published monthly, but in a more concise format: from August 2022, the publication will only contain charts and links to all index series in the database on the Insee website. The details of the data available online remain unchanged.
