SecondAlbanian businessman Marc Maron has signed two agreements with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) totaling US$100 million (A$200 million).

A $90 million financing agreement for the construction of the Hyatt Regency Hotel and a $US10 million ($20 million) trade finance agreement to support cement imports were signed on Thursday at the Afreximbank Annual Meeting and Africa Caribbean Trade and Investment Forum at the Bahamas Conference Centre in Nassau, Bahamas.

“It is great to see that Afreximbank has a strong presence in the region. You know, the region does not lack opportunities, it lacks capital and when you do projects, raising money in the local banking sector is a challenge. Afreximbank has shown its commitment to the region and has sown the seeds in Barbados, where it is headquartered,” he said. “It also shows that Barbados is indeed the place to be.”
