The Malawi beach soccer national team will host Burundi in the second leg of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday, July 27 at Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima District.

The home side will have the upper hand in this match after beating Burundi 6-7 away in Bujumbura in the first leg.

Head coach Willy Kumirambe said in an interview before the match on Thursday that they are ready to take on a Burundi team that gave them a tough test in the first leg.

“We need to stay technically sharp throughout the game because the competition is not over yet and as a team we need to work hard ahead of our return game in Salima on Saturday,” he said

Gift Chimbalanga, president of the Malawi Beach Soccer Association, is optimistic that the team will beat Burundi at home and book a spot in Egypt.

Since then, Chimbaranga has called on the country’s sports and entertainment fans to come to the match and support the Flames to defeat the visiting team.

Malawi last qualified for the 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup in Mozambique, where they lost to Uganda on penalties in the fifth round and finished sixth.day and 6day Location classification.

The overall winner will advance to the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, hosted by Egypt later this year.

The team made its continental debut in 2022 after defeating Tanzania in the qualifiers.
