Bhojpur, August 15. Mahbhir Falls in Temkamaiung Rural Municipality of Bhojpur has started to become a tourist destination.
The place has become an attractive tourist destination with conservation and development efforts targeting domestic and foreign tourists.
The waterfall located at Temkmaeung-4 Nagi is about 60 meters high. Locals say that the name of this waterfall is Mahbhir Jharna because Bhirmauri used to live there in the past few years.
The fountain flowing from the waterfall attracts the attention of tourists. Local residents said that dozens of people come to see the waterfall every day.
The waterfall is about 29 km from Bhojpur headquarters and about four and a half km west of the village centre. According to locals, the flow of tourists has increased with the opening of the road.
Local resident Buddhaprasad Rai said that if the necessary infrastructure can be further developed along with the promotion of the waterfall, it will help develop economic resources in rural areas.
He said that especially in summer, many tourists gather there. He said that on Saturdays and other holidays, people come from different places to visit.
“The Mahabir Falls is becoming an attractive centre for tourists,” he said, “with dozens of people coming every day.” If more attention is given to publicity, it could become a good source of revenue for the municipality.
According to Rai, a local resident, the number of people visiting the waterfalls has increased as the mid-mountain road connecting Dikthal, the headquarters of Bhojpur, and Kotang has been extended through the area.
The falls are located about two and a half kilometers from the main highway. People passing through the area often go to see the falls.
Especially in summer, more people come here to enjoy the waterfall. Chief Administrative Officer Viken Paudel said that with the expansion of the road leading to the village, necessary buildings have been built around the waterfall for tourists.
He said the waterfall was being established as a tourist area in the rural municipality. He said the goal was to link tourism with the economy of the rural area.
“Mahbil Falls is becoming a top tourist destination for tourists,” said administrator Poddar. “We have always attached great importance to its development and protection. We plan to further develop and expand it in the future.”
Ramadevi Rai, deputy head of the village, said development work was underway to make Mahavir Falls a tourist area.
Vice President Rai said Temkemaiung natural resources and tourism area have great potential and will be linked to the tourism industry.
Vice President Rai said that plans are currently underway to mainly develop agriculture and tourism in rural areas.
“There are many tourist areas here and we are developing them here by combining tourism and agriculture. Mahavir Falls is developing into a full-fledged tourist destination. We are working on a plan to make it more organised,” she said.
The township government said it would give priority to developing the tourist area around the waterfall in the township. According to the city government, there are plans to expand the sidewalk that passes through the waterfall to facilitate the movement of tourists.
District Collector Harkaraj Rai said that with the conservation and development of Mahabhir Falls, the number of people visiting the falls has increased.
According to him, with the unblocking of roads, the flow of tourists has also increased. District Chief Rai said, “Plans for the development of tourist attractions in the district are underway.”
