The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) has issued a travel warning for Hungary. Traffic restrictions for heavy trucks will remain in place until Tuesday evening.
Until August 20, 2024, truck drivers intending to travel to Hungary or transit through neighboring countries must be aware of the traffic restrictions implemented by the Hungarian Ministry of Construction and Transport.
The Hungarian Ministry of Construction and Transport (MCT) has informed the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the traffic restrictions imposed by the country’s authorities on heavy trucks (over 7.5 tons) from August 17 to 20. news.ro.
According to Hungarian law, trucks weighing more than 7.5 tons are prohibited from passing between August 17 (10:00 PM Hungarian time) – August 18 (10:00 PM Hungarian time) and August 19 (10:00 PM Hungarian time) – August 20 (10:00 PM Hungarian time).

“Nevertheless, the Hungarian Ministry of Transport has decided to allow trucks to pass during the night, i.e. between 22:00 and 06:00, despite the very high temperatures,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
