A country of 240 million people with a literacy rate of only 56%, even though half of its population cannot write their own names, is striving to become a better country in the international community.
Education plays an important role in the development of any nation or country.
An educated nation will always succeed on the road to glory.
In my country, Pakistan, only 44% of the people are literate. Illiteracy is not only harmful to the economic condition of the country, but also to the physical and mental health of the people.
In Pakistan you will see young children begging on the streets and they can’t even read because these young children are forced to live in poverty.
Without knowing what schools are and what happens in them, the future of this country seems bleak.
Without being able to write, most people live in harsh conditions that are not even suitable for animals to survive in. Without highly educated people, a country cannot prosper because education helps a country produce highly skilled professionals such as doctors and scientists who ultimately bring prosperity and development to the country.
Illiteracy and other ills lead to widespread corruption and injustice in society, leaving people at the mercy of criminals and mafias.
Illiteracy also breeds mafias to exploit people in the name of religion and leads to unchallenged rule of spiritual and faith healers and quacks who simply take advantage of people’s illiteracy to cheat them.
In conclusion, education is the panacea for all the ills of society. Without education, no country can prosper. Education is like a beam of light that helps a country on the path of development. Only education can open people’s eyes to the light and uncover the veil of illiteracy.
Islam as a religion places great emphasis on acquiring knowledge and requires its followers to get educated for the common good of the society.
