The quality of education should also be measured in terms of peace, social order and prosperity. If one sees that human civilization has reached its golden age, then this is the gift of human knowledge acquisition, or if one sees that this civilization is on the verge of destruction, then this is also the result of the education that humans have acquired since history.
From the time when human life was completely dependent on nature to the time when nature began to depend on human activities, views on where we are going and why have divided into two opposite poles.
In other words, a desperate person sees the world as harsh, evil, destructive, and feels that the future will be worse than the past. If he looks for the reasons for all this, he will see the roots in the doctrines accepted by mankind. From an optimistic point of view, it is obvious that human civilization has come to this point today due to the contribution of education.
To make it better, more quality education is needed. However, if the first statement is not just seen as pessimism or a fond recollection of the past, but if we see the current world mentality as split in two, a different trend in education and its meaning and utility begins.
People who are trapped in the trap of machines and artificial intelligence are becoming “left-brain dominant”. On the one hand, human emotions are decreasing and virtues are disappearing, on the other hand, the rhythm between man and nature is deteriorating, and according to scientifically proven facts, environmental dangers are increasing. Therefore, many people in developed countries are seeking peace of mind and closeness to nature.
Now it can be assumed that in a few decades the world will be moving at two opposite speeds. Therefore, an alternative way of understanding or receiving and giving education and applying it in practice can be sought.
A farmer who has to get up early in the morning to dig the ground has only one dream in his life, that one day he can also get up early, drink tea and chat. After struggling to reach such a state, the compulsion of physical health makes him have to get up early in the morning to run or dig the ground. Due to its biological religion, the journey of human prosperity ends where it began.
From birth, a person embarks on a journey driven by genetic characteristics, family conditions, social conditions and environmental conditions. As his physical health and psychological growth, his experience in today’s education system becomes noticeable. When life is like a war, people always fight in contradictions.
What you need from others, you should not give to others. Like, he knows that straight trees are cut down and life cannot be without bending, but he keeps expecting straightness from others. This is basically the fault of the education he received, because in school he has to conquer everyone. He has to defeat others, but everyone has to help him. This is everyone’s personal conflict.
School makes the child a racehorse of endless sorrow, a race in which success in life is measured, possibly by one horse outrunning another.
At least there is no example of a person without legs. Therefore, learning to drag one’s legs and find the shortest path becomes the essence of education.
Today’s politics of becoming a leader and gaining power just because the country will reach the pinnacle of material and non-material progress in a very short time and at a very unnatural speed has made people so deluded that they no longer believe in karma. While living in the taste of dreams but unable to realize them, people are still seeking social and political changes.
The greater the change, the greater the hope, the more disappointment and confusion, change again, the country keeps falling into this vicious cycle. Scholars and journalists have become fuel for the fire, with no other attitude and awareness except that this is not happening, this is not how it happens.
Globalization and the opening up of the free economy have reinforced the sentiment that Nepal has nothing and can only get everything from abroad. Nepal, which spends on foreign goods earned from abroad, is becoming like a tea restaurant at night.
When Nepali children cannot play on Nepali soil, swim in Nepali rivers, sing in Nepali forests, and herd cattle and sheep, they will not remind us of the previous generation.
The life of a machine is only 24 hours. Since childhood, his dream has been to leave Nepal and fly abroad. Does this prove that Nepal also needs another educational philosophy?
I won’t explain why and how here, but from an educational point of view there are only two main options for the above problems, unschooling or home schooling in developed countries and nationalization of education in developing countries, but for very underdeveloped countries, privatization of education may still be necessary.
For Nepal, it is imperative that the state assumes full responsibility for education and health and redefines the quality of education. A certain degree of family education or open education has also been proven to be very beneficial.
In this context, the debate on education in Nepal is heating up and a different context is proposed here to further examine the institutional form of school. Basically, if the material aspect of education is seen as a means of work or earning money and the non-material aspect is a means of gaining knowledge and peace, then is it not possible without school? Now a different angle is to have education in the form of children’s huts within a building without a school.
In the various types of non-school systems operating in many countries around the world, the main way to obtain school education is to have a teacher at home or learn from family members, or learn from real-life situations.
The importance of a school is considered to be the quality of education provided there. The question starts here: What is the quality measurement system? What are the root causes of the current low quality of education in Nepal? For this, you have to stick to the purpose of education. However, the educational goals of individuals may vary. What should the curriculum and its evaluation system and classroom activities look like in order to achieve the standards of quality education?
Based on these, holding different educational philosophies and seeking identification in classroom education and philosophy of life, there may be reference to the Gurukul and the caste system in Hindu society.
However, the literature related to the growing alternative education systems in today’s world should be studied in detail. Then it is necessary for today’s schools to be like what Krishnamurti envisioned, or like the Kalayuva manes of South India. Instead of locking children in cages and turning them into circus lions, it is better to stifle the independent development of every child.
