In addition to the free vaccinations, a doctor from the San Sebastian Health Center provided them with consultations on general medicine, blood pressure measurements, HIV screening and oral health. About 250 people benefited from this medical campaign.
Magdalena Quepuy Izarra, executive director of immunization at the Department of Health, stressed that the main purpose of vaccination is to protect the most vulnerable populations, thereby preventing them from experiencing health complications if they are infected with influenza or pneumococcus.
“Minsa has been providing vaccinations in nursing homes, hospitals, markets, soup kitchens and other public places. We remind people that regular flu, pneumococcal and other vaccinations are free and can prevent the consequences of severe cold weather.”
It is worth noting that as of 2024, more than 3.5 million doses of influenza and pneumococcal vaccines have been administered nationwide. The Ministry of Health calls on parents to take children under the age of 5 to complete the influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations. Similarly, the elderly can be vaccinated at health institutions.
