As part of Operation Maliko, the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) airborne carriers successfully carried out a surgical strike against terrorist targets in northeastern Kidal last Monday. The same day, the Armed Forces Information and Public Relations Directorate (Dirpa) announced the news on its digital platform.

Security sources said that in fact, during an offensive reconnaissance mission, the FBI spotted the terrorists riding motorcycles along the wadi. After a careful search, a powerful strike was launched, destroying their shelters and destroying their bases, the statement said. Meanwhile, in the Toksimene area, the vigilance of our Air Force allowed us to detect and destroy the carefully hidden vehicles, Dilpa told.

The Armed Forces General Staff reaffirmed FAMA’s full commitment and determination to protect people and property across the country.

The offensive reconnaissance mission was carried out the day after a terrorist attack against civilians in the Tagarut area of Kidal region. According to security sources, after the terrorists committed the crime, they responded in the direction of In-Tebezase, 81 kilometers southwest of Kidal.

Afterwards, the General Staff of the Armed Forces assured that it would continue to study and identify the terrorists responsible for the attack with a view to eliminating them. Considering that the area is under surveillance, the military top brass invited the public to keep their distance from the terrorists.

In an interview with state television last week, Dilpa leader Major Suleiman Dembur declared that the armed forces would never give up their imperial mission to recover the entire national territory, while also guaranteeing the safety of people and property.

It is worth recalling that since July 19, the Malian armed forces have been carrying out large-scale stabilization operations in the areas of In Afarak and Tinzaouatna (Kidal region). It was in this context that on July 22 our forces took control of the In Afarak area, 122 kilometres northeast of Tessalit.

After this important victory, their course was towards Tinzawatne, 233 km northeast of the city of Kidal, on the Algerian border, where the armed terrorist group (GAT) was suppressing the civilian population through extortion and blocking the logistics of convoys that supply the main cities in the north.
