The Malawi Supreme Court of Appeal has suspended the Malawi Congress (MCP) General Assembly scheduled for August 8-10, 2024, to allow for inter partes hearings involving the party and Eddie Banda to resolve the High Court’s ruling barring new members of the party from contesting the General Assembly elections.
Banda took the matter to the High Court but now the party applied for a stay of the High Court’s decision, which the Supreme Court granted but further ordered the convention to be suspended until the court’s decision.
