Russian airstrikes on the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv have killed at least four people, including a 14-year-old girl.
According to the governor of the Kharkiv military government Oleh Siyehubov, 28 people were injured. This number could still rise. According to official sources, a guided air bomb hit a twelve-story residential building, causing part of the building to collapse.
More Western weapons needed
“If our defense forces had had the opportunity to destroy stationed Russian military aircraft, such a strike would not have taken place,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a message on Telegram.
In light of the destruction, he again called on the West to drop massive amounts of weapons on targets inside Russia.
Authorities: Children among the injured
Bombs hit several areas of what was once Ukraine’s second-largest city. Among the wounded were several children, according to authorities. Kharkiv is only about 30 kilometers from the Russian border and is a frequent target of Russian attacks.
In February 2022, Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin ordered an aggressive war against Ukraine, and Russian troops also attempted to occupy Kharkiv, but failed.
