Karachi: The India Meteorological Department on Wednesday predicted that the heat wave conditions in Karachi and other parts of Sindh province will continue till June 1.
From May 29, coastal areas of Sindh, including Karachi, are likely to experience a heat wave with temperatures likely to exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
According to the Meteorological Bureau, weather conditions are likely to improve from June 3 to 4.
According to an alert issued by the Pakistan Civil Defence Department’s Heat Wave Warning Centre, “A heat wave is likely to occur in Karachi, Thatta, Badin and Sujawar districts from Wednesday (today) to June 1, with the maximum daytime temperature rising to 40-42 degrees Celsius in Karachi and 42-44 degrees Celsius in Thatta, Badin and Sujawar districts.”
It is likely to remain very hot and humid over the next 24 hours.
The maximum temperature on Thursday (tomorrow) is likely to soar to 43 degrees Celsius.
Bad weather is likely to continue till June 1 in most parts of Sindh with daytime maximum temperatures in Dadu, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Shaheed Benazirabad recording 06-08 degrees Celsius above normal while Sanghar, Hyderabad, Mitiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Tharparker and Badin districts recording 05-07C above normal.
On Tuesday, Jacob Abad recorded the highest temperature, which touched 52 degrees Celsius.
The mercury soared to 51 degrees Celsius in Dadu, Larkana and Mohenjo-daro, 50 degrees Celsius in Sukkur, Nawabshah and Khairpur, 49 degrees Celsius in Rohri and Padidam, 48 degrees Celsius in Sakran and 46 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad.
