Judiciary Committee approves media privilege – domestic

VIENNA – Austria’s vice president and the Greens submitted a short amendment to the Justice Committee on Wednesday, calling for new regulations on the so-called media privilege for data protection. Criticism came from opposition parties, according to a parliamentary letter. The fix became necessary after a decision by the Constitutional Court (VfGH), according to which the media cannot in principle be exempted from data protection regulations.
