The Jammu and Kashmir administration has sacked four employees, including two police personnel, for allegedly being involved in “anti-national” activities.
Jammu Kashmir News: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday sacked four government employees, including two policemen, for their “deep involvement” in anti-national activities.
“The Jammu and Kashmir Administration has dismissed four employees from different departments, two from the Police Department (Constables), one from the Directorate of School Education (Junior Assistant), one from the Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj (village level staff) under Article 311 of the Constitution of India for their deep involvement in anti-national activities,” an official statement issued on Tuesday said.
The statement said the activities of the now-sacked employees came under scrutiny by law enforcement and intelligence agencies as they were found to be “deeply involved in activities detrimental to the national interest and there was evidence of their involvement in terror-related activities.”
Two police constables of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Imtiaz Ahmed Loan and Mushtaq Ahmed Pir, have been sacked for their alleged involvement in terrorist activities and cross-border drug dealing, an official spokesperson said.
According to the spokesperson, Loan, a resident of Tral in South Kashmir’s restive Pulwama district, was suspected of supplying, transporting and facilitating the delivery of arms and ammunition to promote and carry out terrorist activities, while Pir, a select constable of Handwaravirgam in North Kashmir, was deeply involved in the drug trade.
“A resident of Kupwara border district, Peer had established links with drug smugglers across the Pakistani border and was running a drug racket in north Kashmir,” the spokesman said.
He said Peel had direct links with the masterminds of narco-terrorist syndicates operating across borders and had direct links to the terrorist and separatist ecosystem.
The other two employees who were fired were Bazil Ahmad Mir, a junior assistant in the school education department, and Mohammad Zaid Shah, a village staff member in the rural development and Panchayati Raj department.
Mir was accused of “cultivating drug trafficking gangs in and around the Lorab region and becoming a full-fledged trafficker of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances with direct links to the terrorist and separatist ecosystem”.
The spokesman said Shah was a “hardcore drug dealer” who allegedly obtained large shipments of heroin from drug smugglers across the occupied territories in the Persian Gulf and “played a key role in the generation of drug trade funds that inevitably feed into sustaining the terrorist-separatist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.”
The spokesman claimed that Shah was the kingpin of drug trafficking gangs in North Kashmir and was in close touch with individuals of Jammu and Kashmir origin who had crossed over to Pakistan in 1990 for terrorist training and were currently settled there.
