The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is preparing to visit Sri Lanka to further investigate the arrest of four ISIS terrorists at the Ahmedabad airport.

Currently, the Sri Lankan police have detained two suspects in connection with the case, while the third suspect, Osmond Gerard, is still at large.

Sri Lanka has declared Gerard wanted and announced a reward of Rs 2 million for his arrest.

On May 20, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested four Sri Lankan nationals at the Ahmedabad airport, foiling a potential terror attack.

The arrested suspects were identified as Mohammad Nusrat (33), Mohammad Farish (35), Mohammad Nafran (27) and Mohammad Rashdin (43), who are believed to be linked to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

The operation of Gujarat ATS to arrest four ISIS terrorists has taken a new twist as objectionable materials were found at their residence. The mobile phones of the terrorists have been seized and are being investigated by the ATS team.

Preliminary findings revealed that the terrorist had come into contact with a Muslim preacher named Abu Pakistan and spent 42 days with him for ideological indoctrination.

Three special teams of the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Bureau are actively investigating leads outside the state. Their investigation revealed that Osmond Gerard provided Rs 4 lakh to four terrorists and frequently changed his face to evade capture.

Based on information provided by ATS, Sri Lankan authorities detained two persons, but Gerard still evaded arrest.

Investigations have revealed that three more people were assisting the terrorists in their activities in India. The ATS is currently keeping an eye on these associates and examining the mobile phones of the arrested terrorists for more clues.

Significantly, the police found that a weapon was transported to Punjab via a drone across the Pakistani border, which adds significant significance to the case.

In the meticulous investigation, ATS analysed CCTV data of 78,000 vehicles around Chiloda and checked 13,000 vehicles for clues.

Besides, three ATS teams have been sent to Delhi, Rajasthan and Punjab to investigate from all angles.
