Club Atlético Herediano remains unbeaten in the group stage of the Copa Central America; however, there is a bitter taste within the red and yellow team as they failed to add three players to their final group match against Motagua, a result that would have given them an overall lead in the first stage.
Although the match was played for more than 90 minutes in the capital, Herediano head coach Jafit Soto had some criticism for Motagua’s defending on the grass at the National Stadium.
“We played against a team of seven defenders with defensive characteristics. The back five were central; only the left back was a full-back. “We played against seven players with defensive characteristics,” Sotto Molina detailed the situation in a press conference after the game.

Herediano’s head coach and president wasted no time in making it clear that his side needed extra hours of work to reach the level the coaching staff expected.
“What we need is a little more work because we have accumulated a few hours of work because tomorrow the resumption is coming and different things are coming, but I leave feeling happy and grateful for the level of the players.” He promised.
The first match of the season wasn’t the best for Herediano. However, Jafit believes his side have improved considerably, which could see them compete for all titles this term.
“We are a strong team and we are here to fight for the Central American Cup, the Cup and the national championship. Of the 10 points, Walter Centeno made a great effort; he got 6 incheshe finished.
Herediano will return to action this Saturday when he visits Eibar Rodríguez Aguilar to face Santos de Guapiles in the 8th match of the 2024 Opening.
