Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday accused Hamas of undermining efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza.

The United States and other mediators Egypt and Qatar said they were close to a deal after talks in Doha, while Israeli officials were less optimistic, according to the Associated Press.
But Hamas, which is not directly participating in the talks, accused Israel of adding new demands to an earlier U.S.-backed proposal that Hamas had agreed in principle.
The new proposal calls for a three-stage process in which Hamas would release all hostages taken in the Oct. 7 attack that sparked the deadliest war between the Palestinians and Israel.
In return, Israel would withdraw its troops from Gaza and release Palestinian prisoners.
But Hamas has rejected recent Israeli demands, which include a permanent military presence on the Egyptian border and control over Palestinian returns to their homes with the aim of rooting out militants.
Hamas is demanding a full Israeli withdrawal, which has been part of all previous ceasefire proposals, according to documents shared with the Palestinian Authority and verified by officials involved in the talks.
