The head of Israel’s largest trade union called for a general strike in solidarity with Gaza hostages on Monday after six more people were announced dead. In a statement on Sunday, Israeli trade union leader Arnon Bar-David said “political considerations” were standing in the way of a deal to free the remaining Hamas hostages, adding that a strike would bring the “entire Israeli economy” to a standstill, including the country’s main airport.
