Around 400 school leavers in the Isle of Man received their exam results today.
The vast majority of students gain Level 3 qualifications from the school, including A-Level and BTEC qualifications, and staff are on hand to offer support and advice on the next steps towards higher education, apprenticeships or employment.
A-Level or equivalent qualification examination results from a temporary school in the Isle of Man showing:
- The overall A*-E (or equivalent) pass rate was 98%
- A*-B (or equivalent) pass rate 48%
- A*-C (or equivalent) pass rate 76%
Early indications are that around two-thirds of students have applied for university courses at UCM or further afield, and around 30% of 18-year-olds plan to enter the workforce.
The trend towards ‘learn while you earn’ is set to continue as more people look to gain skills and qualifications in areas such as accountancy, engineering and digital technology whilst working.
Minister of Education, Sports and Culture Daphne Caine MHK said:
“I would like to congratulate all the students who have received their results today. You should be proud of your achievements and the skills you have developed along the way.”
“I want to emphasise that whatever your grades are, there are many opportunities for you. Whether you plan to go to university, undertake an apprenticeship, enter the workforce or explore other options, you will find a path that suits your interests and ambitions.
“I would like to thank the school staff and parents for their support.”
Students will have the opportunity to work with qualified careers advisors on a drop-in basis throughout the summer. All details, as well as further information and resources, can be found on the DESC Signpost website.
