Mumbai Indians management said fast forward Jasprit Bumrah is “recovering well” from the left shoulder injury he sustained during the Indian Premier League match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday.
The Mumbai Indians management said an “assessment” of his condition would be conducted on Monday.
Bumrah fell and injured himself while bowling the team’s final over and needed the help of Mumbai Indians physiotherapist Nitin Patel to walk back to the dugout with difficulty, a development that is worrying for the Indian team heading into the World Cup.
With just over two months left for the World Cup to begin, the Indian selectors and the team management are concerned about the fitness of their main attacking bowler Bumrah.
Bumrah came under heavy attack from Rishabh Pant and soon after bowling a yorker, he dived to save the ball and covered his left shoulder area in the final over of Delhi Capitals’ innings.
Pant managed to get the ball back to Bumrah, who dove to his left to block it. Bumrah is an important part of the Indian team that will travel to England in two months.
The Mumbai Indians physiotherapist came out and dragged him off the court even as the fast break spearhead looked in pain.
