Indian Coast Guard chief dies of heart attack

DG Rakesh Paul was appointed as the 25th DG of the Indian Coast Guard in July last year. An alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy, Rakesh Paul joined the Indian Coast Guard in January 1989. In a career spanning 35 years, the officer has served in several important positions including Commander Coast Guard Region (North West), Gandhinagar, Deputy Director General (Policy and Planning), Coast Guard Commandant, New Delhi and Additional Director General of Coast Guard. DG Rakesh Pal was awarded the Tat Rakshak in 2013 for his distinguished services and the President’s Tat Rakshak in 2018.
