The 31-year-old Scotland vice-captain and former Racing 92 player hopes to continue that joy into the next World Cup.
Finn Russell’s 2027 target. He will celebrate his 32nd birthday on September 23, but the Scotsman is not yet thinking about retirement. After five years with Racing 92, under contract with Bath since last summer, the fly-half does not plan to retire immediately.
«I will be 35 at the next World Cup and I fully intend to participate in this tournament. Finn Russell explained in comments reported by TNT Sports Rugby PassI’m going to be 32 next month and everybody’s asking me what I’m going to do next. But I think I’ve got another six or seven years left in me.»
Finn Russell is thinking about the next World Cup in 2027, as well as the next British and Irish Lions tour, which will take place next summer. He has been selected for the Lions squad.
«I have no plans to retire any time soon, either from club rugby or international rugby. I will keep playing as long as I can. Some players might think it’s time to quit at 34 and get a job, but as long as I continue to enjoy it and play well, there’s no point in me quitting.»
