He is ruling for the sake of Allah and he considers this government to be a strong trust entrusted to him by Allah through the people, Mohammed Mu’iz said tonight.
Speaking at a rally held by the ruling National People’s Congress (PNC) on Wednesday night, the President said the people had placed great trust in him for the responsibilities he had assumed.
“I rule for Allah. Allah has given me a very strong trust through the people to rule an Islamic country based on the holy Islam Nath, and that is the rule I believe in,” the president said.
The President said the people have been telling him that in the last nine months of this government, steps have been taken in Sri Lanka to make Islam victorious.
“I have no hesitation in telling people to pray five times a day, they even laugh at me and that gives me more courage to talk about it,” he said.
The President said that as our babies grow up in this country, it is the responsibility of each of us to ensure that they do not fall into the evil ocean of this divided world and grow up in Islam.
“Very bad oil is spreading and not only Islamic countries are affected, even countries without any official religion are worried. We should raise our children without this oil and save this Islamic country for which our ancestors made many sacrifices and many jihads for future generations. This should be our understanding,” he said.
The president said he was proud of his government.
“The people gave me this trust, to do the work for the people and as Allah told us, so I have no shame, I am not afraid,” he said.
