A weightlifter has opened up about why she still lifts weights while 35 weeks pregnant.
Olivia Enriquez, 25, decided to continue her fitness life despite being pregnant.
She argued that she had been lifting weights safely to stay healthy and wanted to maintain her strength as much as possible.
The fitness enthusiast continued to lift weights and tone up throughout her pregnancy and is glad she was able to stick to her fitness lifestyle.
Olivia, from Houston, Texas, explained that she refused to let childbirth affect her physical health.
“I’m trying to maintain as much muscle and strength as possible!” she said.
“I plan to continue lifting weights throughout my pregnancy and adjust as needed.
“Overall, I feel like lifting weights helps reduce pain, and I’m hoping it will help me recover from the birth as well.”
Olivia shared videos of herself working out on TikTok, and viewers were blown away by her determination and perseverance.
Some people joke that losing weight or “cutting the pounds” will have a different effect postpartum.
They said, “After having a baby, your hair is going to be crazy.”
“Wow!” said another.
“Looks amazing!…and very sturdy!!” a third added.
Health experts revealed that you can continue exercising during pregnancy under the supervision of a doctor.
Dr Lawrence Cunningham, of the UK Care Guide, said: “I would always recommend that anyone who is pregnant, particularly those undertaking high intensity activities such as weightlifting, should have a thorough consultation with their GP.”
“This includes ongoing monitoring of their health and the health of their fetus, as well as adjusting their routine as the pregnancy progresses.”
Cunningham added that moms should be cautious about engaging in strenuous and strenuous activities.
“You have to listen to your body’s signals and dial back the intensity when necessary,” he said.
“Additionally, maintaining correct form and technique becomes even more important to avoid injury.
“Safety depends largely on an individual’s pre-pregnancy fitness level, weightlifting experience, and health status during pregnancy.”
