In Gomel, Belarus’ Independence Day celebrations began with a parade of veterans, workers, athletes and creative youth along Soviet Street. Thousands of Gomel residents took part in the celebrations despite bad weather.

Then, according to tradition, a solemn assembly was held at the Eternal Flame in Labor Square, where the gathered people laid flowers and wreaths at the monument.

The equipment parade was held from Lenin Square along Soviet Street. Gomel residents saw equipment used in various spheres of activity – agriculture, forestry and public utilities, models of public transport and firefighting equipment.

Of course, a holiday is incomplete without a concert program. The venue is the central square of Gomel.
Gromyko Park has a play area for children. The Gomel Regional Museum of Military Glory held an interactive historical knowledge exploration event. Admission to the museum is free today, and guests were served soldier porridge.

As for other sites, Uprising Square attracts the attention of Gomel residents and city guests. Just the other day its reconstruction was completed – it is interesting to see the changed location. In addition to the square itself, changes have also affected the area near the fountain near the circus building: a swing bench is now installed there.

The festival is held not only in the center of Gomel, but also in all regions. The festival ends with the singing of the national anthem of the Republic of Belarus and a fireworks display.
