When asked if it was a good idea to organize parliamentary elections on December 1, Minister Sorin Grindeanu replied to Digi24 TV producer Cosmin Prelipceanu:
“If you remember, in February-March, when the decision was made to merge the local elections with the European Parliament elections, Prime Minister Marcel Ciourakou said: “Sir, this is a request from PNL colleagues, let’s have the local elections together with the European Parliament elections. European Parliament elections, I want to know the entire electoral calendar before the end of the year”. There will be local elections and European Parliament elections on June 9, presidential elections in September and parliamentary elections in November-December. He not only showed himself, but voted for us and the PNL. At the same time, the ideas of colleagues in the League have changed”.
Holding an election on National Day won’t spoil the celebrations at all
The Transport Minister added:
“We understood each other. We no longer agreed on the language. It is not easy to overcome the moment when a partner does not keep his word. They do not respect what we understood. But we agreed to overcome it. I voted because it was approved by the government for three weeks, one after another. The MPs had two options. December 1 or 8. Sorin Grindeanu also said that no PSD or PNL member had suggested that the organization of the December 1 elections would mess things up.
“Everyone says they won’t mess up anything. It’s a celebration of democracy,” Grindeanu concluded, without specifying the point. On December 1, Between 10 and 20 hours, celebrations take place across Romania, especially in the capital, where a military parade is held at the Arc de Triomphe.
