A sudden storm broke out in Plovdiv this evening. British television quoted residents of the city below as saying that the heavy rain was accompanied by thunder.
Bull. “Russia” was littered with broken branches. So far, no injuries have been reported, but the Gardens and Parks Authority has received numerous reports.
“So far we have received more than 20 reports of fallen trees, including five or six reports of trapped cars,” Anton Georgiev, head of municipal enterprises, explained to 24.
According to him, damage was sustained in different parts of the city, for example in the “Kyuchuk Paris” district, a building scaffolding also collapsed.
Georgiev also noted: “We have set up a committee to examine the damage and we are already at the scene.”
He added that Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov had also been on the streets of Plovdiv to inspect the damage caused by the storm.
Although some cars were damaged by summer storms, people in Plovdiv enjoyed a cooler day as temperatures there have reached 40 degrees in recent days.
