Health Minister Dr. Galya Kondeva has issued a new order prohibiting the export of insulin and analogues, as well as other blood sugar-lowering drugs. In a month, antibiotics for systemic use in children will also not be exported. This was announced by the Ministry of Health’s press center. The new export ban came into effect today (June 17) and will be valid until July 17, 2024.
“Regardless of the legal nature of the activities carried out, the export of medicines for the treatment of diabetes and antimicrobial medicines for systemic use, as well as the observed delays in their delivery, disrupt the balance between medicines delivered to the country and the increased need to meet the health needs of the population,” the order stated.
The inspection also uncovered new data revealing irregular deliveries, delays or rejections of specific drugs at wholesaler warehouses.
