Residents of priority neighborhoods moved more frequently than residents of other neighborhoods within the same urban unit between 2011 and 2020. However, this mobility is not the norm for all residents of priority neighborhoods, as a portion of the population resides there permanently.
Among residents who lived in a priority community for at least one year between 2011 and 2020, one in ten moved at least once while living in these communities, and four in ten never moved. These residents were often tenants in social housing, and those who moved had the lowest living standards over the entire period, although their living standards improved between 2011 and 2020. Three in ten residents left a priority community, and one in ten lived there for only a few years during this period: these people had higher living standards than others living in priority communities. Finally, one in ten residents settled in a priority community during this period and still lived there in 2020.
