The Guyana Taekwondo Association (GTA) recently held an open taekwondo competition which was a huge success in both competitive and poomsae disciplines.
In layman’s terms, competition consists of sparring, while in Poomsae, competitors demonstrate various offensive and defensive techniques in Taekwondo, which are constructed in a certain sequence of hand and foot combinations, suggesting a duel with an imaginary opponent.
In the Junior Boys category, Nathan Vandergyden had a strong performance, taking first place in both Poomsae and Competitive, and Vivek Bassoo took second place in both categories.
