Grenada declares full operations restored after Hurricane Beryl

Following Hurricane Beryl’s devastation in the Caribbean, the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) has announced that Grenada’s hotels and attractions are fully operational again.

While the main island of Grenada remained resilient, Grenada’s sister islands, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, suffered catastrophic damage.

Hurricane Beryl’s heavy rains and strong winds destroyed desalination plants, cell phone towers and fiber optic cables, rendering roads impassable and damaging homes, local businesses and income-generating activities. To aid in the relief and recovery efforts, the Greater Toronto Area is asking everyone to donate to the Hurricane Beryl Relief Fund through the following channels: Gov.gd e-payment portal.

Countless families are in urgent need of assistance in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. Homes have been destroyed and many have lost the necessities of life. We urge those who are able and willing to donate to the Grenada Government’s Natural Disaster Fund to provide emergency assistance. Donations will help provide food, shelter and medical care to those affected.

“The recent impact of Hurricane Beryl has caused tremendous devastation across the Caribbean. In particular, our beautiful sister islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique have suffered severe damage, causing us deep pain that cannot be measured in material losses alone. Our hearts go out to the people and communities who have suffered this unimaginable disaster,” said Petra Roach, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority.
