Libreville, Sunday, August 4, 2024 (Gabon News) – The Gabonese Minister of Economy and Investment announced on July 10 the publication of contracts and licenses in the oil, mining and forestry sectors. Now in force.
Gabon, committed to transparency and good governance, has just published its list of forest licenses. The Ministry of Economy explains this publication as a means of fighting corruption and ensuring that the country’s natural resources are managed fairly and responsibly.
This transparency enables citizens, civil society organizations, and investors to understand the terms of the agreement, assess the actual benefits to the country, and ensure that operational practices respect environmental and social standards.
For the government, it is also a way to equip citizens, civil society organizations and investors, as they will have the terms of the agreement in hand. Essential elements that will enable them to assess “real benefits for the country and ensure that operational practices respect environmental and social standards.”
The list released by the Minister of Economy and Participation, Mays Mouissi, in collaboration with the Minister of Petroleum, Marcel Abeké, the Minister of Mines, Gilles Nembe and his colleague from the Ministry of Water and Forests, Major General Maurice Ntossui Allogo, includes thirteen (13) companies.
These include Bois et Sawage, Bonus Harvest, CPAET Concession Forestière de l’Ogooué-Ivindo – Rougier, Compagnie des Bois du Gabon, Concession Forestière du HAUT ABANGA – ROUGIER, Corà Wood Gabon, Exploitation Gabonaise des Logs, Regroupement Bayonne – CPAET GSF, Rougier Gabon, Société Forestière et Industrielle de Koulamoutou (SFIK) -1, Société Forestière et Industrielle de Koulamoutou (SFIK) -2, Société d’Exploitation Gabonaise des Grumes (EGG) and Société des Loges Lastourville Woods (SBL) .
