On Friday, July 26, 2024, employees from various government departments attended a one-day training workshop at the National Information and Communication Technology Centre in Castries, highlighting the benefits of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The training seminar, themed “Improving Productivity through Artificial Intelligence: Empowering Government Operations,” was organized in partnership with the Taiwan Technology Mission (TTM) and the Caribbean Digital Transformation Project (CARDTP).

Twenty of the representatives were from their respective government departments and one representative was from the private sector.

The training workshop provided participants with a better understanding of AI and its potential to revolutionize the functioning of government agencies. During the intensive eight-hour course, a wide range of topics were covered, including the impact of AI on various industries such as healthcare, tourism, education and agriculture.

The key learning objectives of the training workshop include:

2. Develop advocacy and implementation skills for AI applications.

3. Master the essential skills to use artificial intelligence tools to improve efficiency and workplace performance.

4. Develop critical thinking about the ethical and societal implications of AI adoption.

The training workshop started in the morning with an overview of AI, its scope and practical applications, followed by a discussion of ethical considerations in AI implementation. Participants then engaged in hands-on activities using popular AI productivity tools. The afternoon session focused on the future of AI in government, incorporating AI into business processes, and the skills and competencies required for an AI-driven workforce.
