Gosekund medical team treats pilgrims

Kathmandu, July 29. A team of specialist doctors has gone there to treat pilgrims heading to the famous religious pilgrimage site of Gosaikunda Janai Purnima Bazaar in the northern Rasuwa district.

Eight persons including a doctor in collaboration with the Bagmati Division’s Culture, Tourism and Cooperatives Department and Kathmandu Himalayan Rescue Society went to Gosaikund to treat various problems of the pilgrims heading for the Gosaikund gathering.

The association’s CEO Gobind Basyal informed that an eight-member team led by Dr. Sushan Humagai has left for Gosaikund.

Dr. Anjila Thapa, Dr. Savitra Thapa, Dr. Suryaprakash Joshi, Dr. Resika Shrestha, medical student Jagat Bhatt, postal assistant Prakash Khatri and union representative Shriram Khatri along with Humagai went to Gosaikund. The team will serve in Gosaikund district for 10 days.

CEO Bashayal said, “The team will provide medical services to the devotees on their way to Gosai Kund. After reaching Gosai Kund, they will check their health status on the way from Ekadash to Purnima.” Association president Dumbar Parajuli said that since 1997, the association has been providing free medical services by sending a team of doctors to Gosai Kund.

President Prajuli said the association will provide free medical and health services to pilgrims visiting Gosainkunda.A fair is held at Gosainkunda, which is 4,380 metres above sea level, from Ekadashi to Bhadra Shukla Purnima.

Thousands of pilgrims from home and abroad come to this fair. Gosaikund fair is held twice a year in Gangadshahra and Janaipurnima.
