Retirement Home Dr. Franceta Bergelja is launching a social service aimed at simplifying everyday tasks and improving the quality of life in a home environment.
Jesenice – Social Services offers a wide range of services, including the purchase and delivery of groceries, the preparation of firewood, the purchase of winter clothing, minor house repairs, washing and ironing of clothes, garden maintenance, snow removal, apartment cleaning, as well as hairdressing and pedicure services. “The services of Social Services are provided to users who need assistance due to disability, age, the birth of a child, illness, accidents and other situations where they need help to integrate into everyday life,” explains the home’s director Dr. Karmen Arko, adding that eligibility for Social Services services must be proven by appropriate attachments attached to the application for the provision of services (pension slip, medical opinion, decision of the Disability Commission…).
There are many advantages to social services, and according to the director, the biggest one is that the service providers are experienced professionals who have received appropriate education for the job and have many years of experience working with social care staff. “Their approach to work is humane and focused on the service user, his wishes and needs.”
Social services are self-funded services and the prices are determined in accordance with the Manual of Rules on the Method of Pricing Social Welfare Services and with the consent of the Ministry. Users apply for services by submitting a completed application, which can be found on the website of the home or from Dr. France Berger. At the moment, they do not provide services in Jesenice, but according to the director, they expect that the prices will be approved by the competent authorities and entered into the register of service providers in the near future. She also stated that the general public can also actively contribute to the operation and support of social services. “Especially by raising awareness among the target groups about the possibilities of their use of social services,” stressed the director Dr. Carmen Alco. In addition to the Jesenice nursing home, which has just started offering social services, the service is at Dr. Janka Benedika Radovljica, where, in addition to the already listed social services, they also offer lunch delivery.
