KRANJ – The Ministry of Education has published data on secondary school admission restrictions for 2024/2025. Enrolment is limited to 58 secondary schools. A growing interest in lower and secondary vocational education programmes is a clear trend. Compared to last year, 120 more candidates applied for lower vocational education programmes, for a total of 745. Secondary vocational education programmes also attracted more applicants, with 381 more applicants than last year, for a total of 4,721. 7,697 ninth graders applied for upper secondary courses, slightly less than last year. There was also a decrease in applications for secondary vocational education programmes, with a total of 9,808 candidates applying for admission.
This year, some secondary schools in Goronja will also have restrictions on admissions. At the French Prešerna High School in Kranj, the economics high school program will be limited to 60 places, and the sports department will be limited to 22 places. The Radovjica Economic High School and Secondary School will limit the economics high school program to 28 places, and the Radovjica Hotel and Tourism High School will limit the beauty technician, gastronomy and tourism programs to 56 places. The Economic, Service and Construction Secondary School in the Kranj School Center will limit the number of places for future hairdressers to 52. The Technical Secondary School in the Kranj School Center will also be limited, offering 26 places each for the mechatronics operator program and 56 places for the computer technician program, and 84 places for the computer science program. Rudolf Maistra Kamnik Sports Hall and Secondary School offers pre-school education and economic technician programs, with enrollment limited to 56 places, while in Srednji škola Domžale, enrollment in mechanical installation installer, car service technician and mechanic programs is limited to 26 places, while there are 56 places for computer technicians.
