Google is also testing adding links to related web pages directly in the AI overview text.

New Delhi: Tech giant Google on Thursday announced the introduction of its ‘AI Overviews’ feature to six new countries, including India.
In India, the company is rolling out ‘AI Overview’ in English and Hindi, along with the popular country-first feature that was well received in its Search Labs experiments.
“It will help you to easily switch between English and Hindi results through the language switch button and listen to the text-to-speech response by clicking on the ‘Listen’ button,” the company said in a blog post.
The six new countries are India, the United Kingdom, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil, and each country offers local language support.
As part of the testing, “we found that Indian users listened to the AI-outlined responses more frequently than users in other countries,” said Hema Budaraju, senior director of product management for search.
“We’ve introduced more ways to see related sites when you search, with a new right-hand link display of the AI overview on desktop and on mobile devices by clicking the site icon in the top right corner,” Budaraju said.
Users seeking help on complex topics are more engaged and keep returning to AI Overview. Google has found that people prefer searching with AI Overview and that they find the search results more helpful.
“As we improve the search experience with AI Overviews, we remain focused on helping people access information and insights from a variety of sources,” Budaraju said.
When people click on search results pages with AI overviews, those clicks are higher quality for the sites — meaning users are more likely to spend more time on the sites they visit.
Google said: “Our continued focus on improving and growing Search also enables us to send more qualified traffic to the web.”
The company is also testing adding links to related web pages directly in the AI Overview’s text (in addition to the highlighted links that already appear), making it easier for people to click and visit sites that interest them.
