Former President Arthur Peter Mutharika’s personal bodyguard, Norman Paulos Chisale, has called on God to forgive officials of the Tonse Alliance for persecuting him since 2020 for political reasons.
Addressing a prayer rally in Nchewu on Saturday, Chisale said he did not have any personal grudge against Attorney General Titus Mwalo, Attorney General Steven Kayuni, Acting ACB Director Hillary Chilumba and the police officers who testified against him.
The prayer was intended to thank the community for their support during his arrest, trial and acquittal.
Last month, the Lilongwe Magistrate’s Court acquitted Chisale of six charges, including intimidation and using abusive language, ruling that the government had failed to prove its allegations.
Chisale was accused of insulting Justice Minister Mvalo and intimidating former Attorney General Steven Kayuni and ACB Acting Director Chilomba.
Earlier this year he was arrested on suspicion of committing the crime during a television interview.
